Positioning flowers in an arrangement.
In most arrangements you should have an uneven number of large flowers in the centre to give weight and consequently a feeling of holding the arrangement together. These should vary in stem length, the largest of the flowers being placed in the lowest. The smaller flowers around the edge and also throughout the arrangement need to be long-stemmed.
Begin with the smaller flowers at the top of the arrangement and place the larger of the smaller flowers lower down on the periphery. When the important centre flowers and main outline ones are in position, complete the arrangements with small, long stemmed flowers, medium sized flowers and foliage placed so that the flowers are evenly distributed throughout the arrangement. When looking at a completed arrangement from the side you need to see fairly dainty looking emerging slightly longer.
